I think the data entry for students could be simplified if there was a notebook area for them to input their data into pre-made tables. Ideally, the values from these tables would then populate in the report automatically for the work to be graded but I recognize this requires a lot of programming. At the very least, a tile for Lab Notebook could be created with appropriate data tables for students to collect and save their data. The challenge with entering data into the Report without a notebook style table or tab is that 1) students may incorrectly enter data, then have to begin the process again - this is exacerbated if students do not write their data down anywhere else, 2) the students do not visualize the data table format when entering the data into the report which I think is a missed opportunity for learning about data collection and management. Having the Lab Notebook tab could replace the need for a hard-copy notebook, allowing students to work in lab completely online.
